Thyroid Doctor in London
Something can feel off long before a thyroid problem is clearly recognised on paper.
For many people, it begins with symptoms that are easy to dismiss in isolation: fatigue that does not lift with rest, brain fog, unexplained weight changes, hair thinning, low mood, constipation, feeling cold all the time, or cycles that suddenly seem different. Then the test comes back “normal”, and the questions remain.
As a GP and functional medicine doctor, I take a more detailed approach to thyroid health. I look not only at whether a result falls inside a reference range, but at the wider clinical picture that may help explain why you still do not feel well.
I offer face-to-face consultations at Charterhouse Clinic in London W1, as well as video appointments for patients across the UK.

When thyroid symptoms are real but answers are incomplete
One of the most common things I hear is: “I was told my thyroid was normal, but I still feel terrible.”
That experience is more common than many people realise. Thyroid symptoms can affect energy, metabolism, digestion, mood, skin, hair, menstrual cycles, and fertility, yet the standard testing route does not always capture the whole picture.
Symptoms that may point to a thyroid imbalance include:
- persistent fatigue that sleep does not fix
- unexplained weight gain or difficulty losing weight
- feeling cold all the time, or having cold hands and feet
- brain fog, poor memory, or difficulty concentrating
- low mood, anxiety, or feeling emotionally flat
- hair thinning or hair loss
- dry skin and brittle nails
- irregular periods or fertility concerns
- constipation or slow digestion
- puffiness, especially around the face
Why standard thyroid testing can miss the full picture
TSH is a useful starting point, but it does not always tell us how well thyroid hormone is being produced, converted, or used by the body.
In my practice, I may look at a more complete thyroid panel where appropriate, including TSH, Free T3, Free T4, thyroid antibodies, and other relevant markers. This can help uncover autoimmune thyroid disease such as Hashimoto’s, conversion issues, or nutrient-related factors that may be affecting thyroid function.
What I commonly help with
- suspected hypothyroidism
- Hashimoto’s thyroiditis
- ongoing thyroid symptoms despite “normal” results
- persistent symptoms despite already taking thyroid medication
- thyroid-related fatigue, mood changes, weight changes, hair loss, constipation, and cycle issues
My approach to thyroid care
First, I listen to the full story
Your symptoms, timeline, stress levels, nutrition, previous results, gut health, hormones, and wider history all matter. I want to understand how the pattern has developed, not just what one number says today.
Then we investigate more carefully
Where it is clinically useful, I arrange a more thorough thyroid assessment alongside other relevant factors such as nutrient levels, inflammation, adrenal function, gut microbiome testing or wider hormonal context.
Then we build a plan around what we find
Depending on your case, this may include medication review or optimisation, nutritional support, lifestyle changes, targeted supplementation, or further investigation.
Ongoing monitoring matters
Thyroid health is rarely a one-off conversation. If we make changes, I follow your progress and adjust the plan over time so it continues to reflect how you are feeling, not only what a result says in theory.
A note on Hashimoto’s thyroiditis
Hashimoto’s is the most common cause of an underactive thyroid, but many people are never clearly told they have it because thyroid antibodies are not always checked routinely.
When Hashimoto’s is part of the picture, there may be more to explore than medication alone. Gut health, inflammation, nutrient status, stress, and immune balance can all matter.
Why work with a thyroid doctor with a GP and functional medicine perspective
One of the advantages of this approach is that I do not look at the thyroid in isolation.
I work from a GP foundation, so I can think clinically about symptoms, testing, medication, referrals, and ongoing monitoring, while also using a functional medicine lens to explore why thyroid dysfunction may be developing or why symptoms are persisting.
