Gut Health Doctor London

Bloating after meals. Unpredictable digestion. Stomach pain that keeps coming back. An IBS label, but no real explanation of why your symptoms are happening.

This is where many people begin. Not with a diagnosis that feels clear, but with a growing sense that something in the gut is out of balance and not being properly understood.

As a GP and functional medicine doctor based in central London, I take gut symptoms seriously. I look beyond short-term symptom control and work to understand what may be driving the pattern underneath, whether that involves your microbiome, diet, stress, hormones, inflammation, or a wider imbalance affecting digestion.

I offer face-to-face consultations at Charterhouse Clinic in London W1, as well as video appointments for patients across the UK.

When gut symptoms keep coming back

Many of the people I see have already tried exclusions, supplements, over-the-counter remedies, or standard tests, yet still feel stuck.

Common problems include:

  • bloating, especially when it seems disproportionate to what you have eaten

  • constipation, diarrhoea, or bowel habits that swing between both

  • abdominal discomfort, cramping, or a heavy, unsettled feeling after meals

  • food sensitivities that seem to be getting worse over time

  • an IBS diagnosis without a clear plan forward

  • fatigue, brain fog, low mood, skin flare-ups, or hormonal symptoms that seem to sit alongside digestive issues

Why gut health affects more than digestion

Your gut does far more than process food. It plays an important role in immune function, energy, inflammation, mood, skin, and hormone balance.

When the gut microbiome is disrupted, or when digestion is not working well, the effects can ripple through the rest of the body. That is one reason why digestive symptoms are so often connected to issues such as tiredness, anxiety, skin problems, or feeling unlike yourself in ways that are difficult to explain.

What I commonly help with

  • bloating and post-meal discomfort

  • IBS-type symptoms

  • constipation

  • diarrhoea

  • food sensitivities and suspected intolerances

  • gut dysbiosis or suspected microbiome imbalance

  • digestive symptoms linked with fatigue, skin, thyroid, or hormonal concerns

How I approach
gut health

Other doctors were only treating symptoms, but Dr Tatyana really looked at the big picture.
— Svetlana P.

A full picture, not a quick assumption
We begin with a detailed consultation. I look at your symptoms, health history, diet, stress, sleep, previous test results, and the wider context in which your digestive problems developed.

Targeted testing where it adds value
Standard investigations do not always tell the full story. Where clinically useful, I may recommend deeper assessment such as stool testing, gut microbiome analysis, intestinal permeability testing, SIBO breath testing, or other targeted investigations.

A plan tailored to your body and your life
Once I understand the pattern more clearly, I create a practical plan that may include dietary adjustments, targeted supplements, lifestyle changes, and further medical or functional investigations where appropriate.

Ongoing support as symptoms change
Gut symptoms rarely resolve through a one-off conversation. I review progress with you, adjust the plan when needed, and help you make sense of what your body is responding to over time.

Why work with a gut health doctor with a GP background

One of the advantages of this approach is that I am not looking at digestion in isolation.

I work from a GP foundation, which means I can think clinically about symptoms, testing, referrals, and wider medical context, while also using a functional medicine lens to explore the root causes that may be contributing to your gut symptoms.

That combination is especially helpful when digestive issues overlap with fatigue, skin changes, thyroid concerns, hormone imbalance, or other chronic symptoms.

Frequently asked questions

Can you help if I have IBS but still do not understand what is causing it?

1

Yes. Many patients come to me after being given an IBS label but still feeling unsure why symptoms are happening or what to do next. My role is to look more deeply at the possible drivers behind the pattern.

Do gut issues really affect fatigue, skin, or hormones?

2

They can. Gut health often interacts with inflammation, nutrient absorption, immune function, and hormone balance, which is why digestive symptoms sometimes sit alongside wider health problems.

Do I always need advanced testing?

3

No. Testing is used selectively, when it is likely to give useful clinical insight. Sometimes a detailed history already points us in the right direction.

Do you offer appointments in London and online?

4

Yes. I offer face-to-face consultations in central London and video consultations for patients across the UK.

What makes your approach different from standard care?

5

I take time to understand the full picture. Rather than focusing only on short-term symptom relief, I look at what may be driving the digestive imbalance underneath and build a personalised plan from there.

Ready to get to the bottom of your gut symptoms?

Persistent digestive symptoms can be exhausting, frustrating, and difficult to explain to other people. They deserve proper attention.
