Functional Medicine Doctor in London

Months or even years can pass without a clear answer when you still feel exhausted, foggy, bloated, inflamed, hormonally out of balance, or simply not like yourself, despite being told your tests are normal.

These symptoms are real, and they deserve a more thoughtful investigation. As a GP and functional medicine doctor based in central London, I take a deeper, root-cause approach to health, looking not only at symptoms but at the wider picture that may be driving them, including nutrition, digestion, stress, sleep, hormones, metabolic health, and lifestyle.

I offer in-person consultations at Charterhouse Clinic in London W1, as well as video appointments for patients across the UK.

What functional medicine means in my practice

Functional medicine is a personalised, science-based approach that asks why symptoms are happening, not only what label they should be given.

Rather than looking at one symptom in isolation, I look at how different systems in the body may be interacting. That includes your gut, hormones, thyroid, immune system, energy production, stress response, and nutritional status.

In my practice, functional medicine does not replace conventional medicine. It builds on it. I still work from a clinical GP foundation, but I use a wider lens when symptoms are ongoing, complex, or repeatedly dismissed.

When patients come to me

Many of the people I see have already tried the standard route. They may have had appointments, blood tests, short-term treatment, or referrals, but still feel that no one has properly joined the dots.

Patients often come to me when they are dealing with:

  • chronic fatigue or unexplained exhaustion

  • brain fog and poor concentration

  • bloating, IBS, or digestive discomfort

  • thyroid symptoms or hypothyroidism

  • hormonal imbalance, PMOS (formerly known as PCOS), or endometriosis

  • insulin resistance or metabolic concerns

  • skin problems such as acne, eczema, or psoriasis

  • autoimmune or chronic inflammatory patterns

How I approach functional medicine consultations

01

A detailed health assessment before we meet

Before your first consultation, I gather information about your medical history, lifestyle, current symptoms, and any previous results. This helps me understand your situation in more depth before we begin.

02

An in-depth first consultation

During our appointment, we take time to look at the full picture. That may include your digestion, nutrition, sleep, stress, hormones, daily routine, past health events, and anything you have already tried.

03

A plan tailored to you

I then create a personalised plan based on your symptoms, history, and priorities. Depending on your case, this may include dietary guidance, lifestyle changes, targeted supplementation, prescriptions where appropriate, and recommendations for further investigation.

04

Testing where it is clinically useful

In some cases, advanced testing can help us understand what standard investigations may have missed. This may include hormone testing, gut health analysis, nutrient status, thyroid markers, metabolic assessment, or other targeted tests where appropriate.

05

Ongoing review and adjustment

Functional medicine is rarely about a quick fix. As your symptoms change and new information becomes available, we adjust the plan so it continues to reflect what your body needs.

Why work with a functional medicine doctor

If you want a doctor who can think more broadly about your health while still working from a solid medical foundation, that is where this approach can be especially valuable.

When you work with me, you get:

  • a qualified GP with over 20 years of clinical experience

  • one doctor who follows your case through

  • longer consultations with time to listen properly

  • a root-cause approach for complex or persistent symptoms

  • a treatment plan tailored to you rather than a one-size-fits-all protocol

Frequently asked questions

What is a functional medicine doctor?

1

A functional medicine doctor looks more deeply at the possible root causes of symptoms and considers how different systems in the body may be connected, rather than focusing only on symptom control.

Who is functional medicine suitable for?

2

It is often helpful for people with ongoing symptoms that have not been fully explained or resolved, especially where fatigue, digestive symptoms, thyroid concerns, hormonal imbalance, inflammation, or more complex chronic issues are involved.

Do I always need advanced testing?

3

No. Testing is only used when it is likely to add useful clinical information. In some cases, your history and current results already tell us a great deal.

Do you offer in-person and online consultations?

4

Yes. I offer face-to-face appointments in central London and video consultations for patients across the UK.

How is this different from a normal GP appointment?

5

Functional medicine consultations are longer and more detailed. The goal is not only to manage the immediate issue, but to understand what may be contributing to it more broadly and build a personalised plan from there.
